The storm began on Friday and continued on Saturday in the south of Arizona/ north of Nogales, Sonora. Materials, such as tree branches, thrash and stones, dragged by the floods got accumulated on the mexican side of the wall and applied to much pressure until collapsed.

Nicole Ballistrea, spokeswoman of the U.S. Border Patrol said that the contractors are already evaluating the damages to make the pertinent arrangements as soon as possible. The evaluation done by John Hays, floodplain coordinator for the Santa Cruz County Flood Control District  that the debris and water that went through the fence after it came down damaged houses and business flooding them with up to 3 feet of water, and that the cost of the damages has not been yet estimated.

The wall built on 2011 as part of the plan to control the illegal immigration had floodgates but they didn’t opened, according to Hays. He said: "It had a lot of water behind it, and it just pushed the fence straight down. If you're fencing is tight enough to catch debris, it basically becomes a dam. It's not meant to withstand those loads of water."
