Electoral authorities are prepared and the electronic voting machines will be installed in polling centers on Friday and Saturday.

The vice president of Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE), Sandra Oblitas, announced today that all materials for this Sunday’s general elections, including presidential, have been distributed throughout the country.

Oblitas says there will be displays on site this Sunday at polling stations that indicate to voters how to correctly cast their ballots. She added that electoral authorities are prepared, and polling centers will have their written guidelines and their electronic voting machines on Friday and Saturday.

Via Twitter, the functionary said the CNE "guarantees the integrity of the process and the transparency of this democratic act #20Mayo."

"The electoral materials have been distributed throughout the country as well as internationally. The voting stations will be installed Friday and Saturday. We’re ready for this electoral event," said Oblitas.

President of the CNE, Tibisay Lucena said that the elections materials for Venezuela’s 14,638 polling stations are being safeguarded for the moment by government workers and that the materials given to international observers are being held in their respective embassies and consulates within Venezuela.

It’s been confirmed that among other international bodies, Russia will also take part in observing these presidential, legislative and municipal elections in Venezuela.

Despite international outcries that the May 20 polls will somehow be tainted or not transparent, Venezuela has a long history of having some of the cleanest, fairest elections in the world and is an innovator in electoral technology that guarantees against fraud.
