Logan Paul, who has 15 million subscribers, has doled out an apology after he received a torrent of criticism for posting a video with a dead body, a victim of an apparent suicide, while on his trip to Japan.

The Aokigahara forest at the base of Mount Fuji, known to be a frequent site of suicides, was where Paul and his friends made comments such as “What, you never stand next to a dead guy?"

The video, uploaded Sunday, has since been taken down. Paul posted an apology on his Twitter, saying he had been "misguided by shock and awe.”

Still, the Youtuber’s name was trending on Twitter globally by Monday, with people tweeting criticisms at him.

Japan has one of the highest rates of suicide in the world, while Aokigahara has a reputation both in Japan and internationally as a destination for people who want to commit suicide.
