Local media said that airstrikes prompted a series of explosions which echoed throughout the area. The Israeli forces claimed that warplanes had specifically targeted Hamas locations near the Rafah-Gaza crossing.

Israeli forces posted to Twitter that “the strike was conducted in response to the repeated launching of incendiary kites and balloons with explosive devices attached to them from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.

"The IDF (Israel Defence Force) is prepared to continue operating with increased intensity and with various means in response to these terror attacks."

"The Hamas terror organization is responsible for all events that transpire in and emanate from the Gaza Strip and will bear the consequence.”

The extent, if any, of injuries or deaths to people and or structural damages in the region, remains unknown.
