Angola's public prosecutor on Monday demanded jail terms of up to 13 years for 17 youth activists accused of rebellion and preparing a coup against President Jose Eduardo dos Santos.

Among those charged is a well-known rapper rapper, Luaty Beirao.

Beirao, who went on hunger strike for over a month last year to protest his detention, was given a five-and-a-half year sentence for "rebellion against the president of the republic, criminal association and falsifying documents."
