A 5.1-magnitude earthquake has hit the north of Colombia near the cities of San Alberto, El Playon and Sabana de Torres.
The earthquake struck at 8:30 p.m. local time in the municipality of La Esperanza in the state of Santander.
The epicenter was located 6.6 km from the town and at a depth of 128 km, according to a report by Colombia’s Geological Service.
It was also felt in the cities of Bogota, Medellin and Bucaramanga.
There have been no reports of injuries or damage. The earthquake was originally reported to be 5.7 on the Richter scale but was later downgraded.
