Bolivia Rallies Behind Evo Morales on 'Day of Lies'

Thousands protested on the anniversary of the referendum to remove presidential term limits, also known as the 'Day of Lies,' or '21F,' to show their support for President Evo Morales and demand that he be allowed to run in the 2019 elections.

Social movements across Bolivia took to the streets Tuesday to denounce the results on the heels of the confessions of Gabriela Zapata, Morales' former romantic partner, who claimed she was the key figure in a smear campaign scandalizing the personal life of the Bolivian leader since 2005, two years before they allegedly had a child together.

The scandal, which was promoted during the referendum in 2016, is said to have helped the right-wing push the "No" vote.
